Rules and Regulations

Museum staff are not available for set-up, but will assist if additional furniture/equipment is needed. All rooms must be left as they were found when vacated.

Museum staff are not responsible for catering/refreshment arrangements and lost or missing catering items/equipment. Groups must ensure caterers pick up their equipment after the meeting or take the equipment with them when they leave.

Prior permission of the Museum and a Special Occasion Liquor License is required to serve liquor at your event, Class I to serve and Class II if you plan to sell liquor. License applications can be picked up at any Nova Scotia Liquor Commission. Provincial Laws require that the Liquor License be posted in plain view.

Smoking is not permitted in the Museum or near entrances

The Museum is a scent-free environment


Entering the Building

When the Museum is open to the public, please use the main entrance.  If Museum is closed, use the side entrance just off the visitor parking lot (South Side).


Public Hours of Operation

The Museum is open everyday 9:30 to 4:30


Parking (Pay and Display)

Parking is available in the visitor parking lot located on the South Side of the Building.   The Pay and Display machine takes credit cards and coin at the rate of $1.50/hour.  Lot is monitored 7 days a week/24hrs a day.



The Museum will not assume liability for personal injury, loss, theft, or damage to equipment resulting from actions of any person or group renting museum facilities.

Renting organizations are responsible to set-up the room in the configuration they require for their meeting/event.  Please advise the Museum if you need a specific number of tables and chairs, we want to ensure that we can accommodate your needs or inform you if additional equipment is required at your cost.

The Museum is a SOCAN member but the renter is responsible for all SOCAN tariffs.


Cancellation Policy

Cancellation must be received 48 hours prior to booking date.

A cancellation fee may be charged to the renter, cancellations due to inclement weather are exempt.


Equipment Rental Information / Fees

The use of the following equipment is available for facility rentals without additional charges:  

  • Internet Connection (all rooms)
  • Microphone (Only in Auditorium, fixed to podium or wireless mic)
  • TV (Boardroom & Auditorium)
  • Video Projector (Auditorium only)
  • Blu-Ray/DVD player (Auditorium only)
